A horse is not a machine, it's a living being.
So let's just take a moment to remember that.

And then let's use that knowledge to treat our horses with the respect they deserve as living beings by investing in the relationship between us and them—a relationship that requires balance and harmony in order for it to thrive.

If you want to be the best rider you can be, you have to learn how to balance yourself on your horse.
And that's not just physically—it's mentally, too. You have to make sure your brain is clear, focused, and ready for the challenge of riding a horse.
Look at it this way: If you're riding a horse, the horse isn't going anywhere until YOU tell it to move forward or stop or turn left or right. So if you're not ready for the ride, then neither are they!
So here's my advice: Take a minute before every ride and get yourself into a state where you're ready to go—and then just go!
